Setting up your EX30

To get the most out of your car from the beginning, it’s a good idea to prepare some things in the Volvo EX30 app before you get your car. The app will guide you through a few steps to set up your car. This includes logging in to the app, activating automatic software downloads and setting up mobile internet in the car. You will be able to do more in the app later.

Pairing the Volvo Cars app with the car

There are different ways of pairing the Volvo Cars app with your car. The steps vary depending on car model and model year, so make sure to read the section that applies to your car.

Removing a car in the Volvo Cars app

Before selling your car, make sure to remove the car in the Volvo Cars app. When you do this, all related data will be deleted from both the app and the car. It will cause inconvenience for the next owner of the car if you uninstall the Volvo Cars app in your phone without removing the car in the app.

Extending or renewing your subscription for connected services

To continue using the remote functions in the Volvo Cars app, you need to extend or renew your subscription for connected services.

Subscription for connected services

To use the remote functions in the Volvo Cars app, the car requires a subscription for connected services. Your subscription includes emergency assistance, security services and app services.

Connecting to the Internet with Sensus Connected Touch

The Sensus Connected Touch option allows you to connect to the Internet using your mobile phone or a 3G/4G dongle.

Change of ownership with connected services

When changing ownership of a car with connected services, there are some steps that need to be taken to unlink the previous owner and give the new owner the option to pair the Volvo Cars app with the car.

Change of market when importing or relocating

When you import your car or move to another country, it is important to contact an authorised Volvo dealer to register for the new market. This ensures that the connected services which Volvo offers will work correctly.

Connected services after the 2G and 3G phase-out

In many countries, 2G and 3G networks are being phased out. This is also referred to as "the 2G and 3G sunset". The reason for this is that mobile network operators shift towards more advanced technologies. Cars without Google built-in will be impacted by the sunset. Depending on model and model year, your car will either lose all connected services or need a software upgrade to keep working as before.

Connectivity issues

A symbol visible in the top left corner of the centre display shows the car's connectivity status. If there is a problem, there are a few things you can try to restore the connectivity.
