A digital key lets you passively lock and unlock the vehicle from a short distance away. It also provides you with a manual lock and unlock button in your phone's wallet.
The digital key can also be used as a key card via NFC1. This works even if your phone battery is drained.
Note
- Not all devices are compatible with the digital key.
- If your phone doesn't have UWB2 capability, it isn't distance-capable and can only be used as a key card.
Owner key
Vehicle owners can share their digital key with family and friends. They can also delete any shared keys at any time.
Owners can also share their digital key to another compatible device or move their main digital key to another device: for example, when they get a new phone.
Note
Sometimes, signal interference may affect distance-capability functions.
If a digital key appears to not be working as intended, try restarting your phone or turn Bluetooth off and on. If you still experience issues, contact Volvo support.
