Shifting before start up procedure
If you change gears from P (Park) to D (Drive) or R (Reverse) very quickly after the vehicle has started, the gear might shift back to P automatically.
This can happen if you change gear before the vehicle has finished its start-up process. The intended gear will initially be displayed in the driver display, but the vehicle will not change gear from P.
Error during vehicle start-up session
If one of the vehicle's systems reports an error during the vehicle's start-up procedure, the gear might automatically shift back to P. The shift back to P is done purposely and for safety reasons, to prevent the vehicle from being put in motion. The intended gear will initially be displayed in the driver display, but the vehicle will not change gear from P.
Solution
If these situations occur, turn the vehicle off and wait a short while before starting it up again. Make sure to give the vehicle time to start up properly before changing gear from P.
