Privacy Notice - CCTV video surveillance

This document describes how Volvo Cars (as defined below) processes your personal data when using CCTV cameras for surveillance on and in connection to our premises (hereinafter “video surveillance”).

1. Who we are

The entity responsible for the processing of personal data in relation to the video surveillance is Volvo Car Corporation, having its registered office at Assar Gabrielssons väg, 405 31, Göteborg, Sweden, company registration number 556074-3089, hereinafter referred to as “Volvo Cars”, “we”, or “us”.

2. What personal data we collect and why

We process your personal data when we collect and use camera video surveillance images and video recordings for the purpose of safeguarding our property, business operations and the security of our personnel as well as the general public visiting our facilities. This processing is based on the legal ground of our legitimate interest (GDPR Art 6.1.f) where we made the assessment that our interest in processing the personal data in order to being able safeguard our property, business operations and the security of our personnel as well as the general public visiting our facilities outweighs the interests of the individual. 3. How long we keep your data

The CCTV video recordings will be kept for a maximum of 30 days from the date of recording. In the case where we have reasons to believe that a crime has occurred, the recordings will be stored and used as long as is needed for the investigation to be finalized by law enforcement. When we are conducting internal policy breach investigations, then the recordings will be stored and used as long as is needed for the investigation and any external legal process to be completed and finalized.

After the end of the above provided retention times, the recordings will be deleted.

4. Who we share your personal data with

We will share your personal data with the following categories of third parties, on a need-to-know basis:

  • Our processors supporting our activity in general, such as providers of IT solutions;
  • Our processors supporting the delivery of the video surveillance, which are limited by contract in their ability to use your personal data for any purpose other than to provide services for us in compliance with each data processing agreement in place;
  • Law enforcement authorities (e.g. police, courts); Personal data needs to be shared or may be shared with law enforcement authorities (e.g., police, courts), to comply with a legal obligation, or our legitimate interest in providing data when a severe crime is suspected, or when it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend ourselves against legal claims.

5. Your rights in relation to the data processing we perform

You have specific legal rights granted by the General Data Protection Regulation relating to the personal data we process about you. You can withdraw your consent or object to our processing of your data, access the data we hold about you, ask for rectification or restriction of your data, request to have your data ported to another entity, request that we delete your data, and finally you can file a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

We continuously review our use of CCTV video surveillance solutions and we subsequently review and update this privacy notice as needed. The date at the top of this privacy notice lets you know when it was last updated. We will handle your personal data in a manner consistent with this privacy notice under which it was collected unless we have your consent to handle it differently.
